Microsoft Global Community Initiative
Develop new skills and connect with like-minded peers and product experts. The Microsoft Global Community Initiative features forums, training, blogs, user groups, resources, and more.
From the Microsoft Tech Community to in-person events and more around the world, Microsoft’s thriving technical community has supported learning, career development, and personal development for more than 30 years. The onset of the COVID-19 pandemic deeply impacted community initiatives, like SharePoint Saturdays, that were already evolving to embrace more Microsoft 365 services. This led to discussions on how to continue supporting the community in this new normal. Like minded people across Microsoft and the industry came together to create the Microsoft Global Community Initiative (MGCI).
The initiative embraces a central guiding principle: it is not led or controlled by Microsoft but instead directed by the community leaders themselves, supported by Microsoft resources, talent, and tools around the world. We will do so in three (3) key ways:
Microsoft Community Advisory Board
Feedback from members of this joint steering committee made of Microsoft and community leaders will directly influence the strategy, resources, and logistics of Microsoft 365 community programs.
Meet the boardCommunity Support Program
This program will provide foundational support in the form of event marketing and speakers, to power the return of technical skilling events like SharePoint Saturdays, hackathons, and bootcamps.
Coming soonCommunity Days
Community members can find, participate in, and run community events in any area they choose. Microsoft will support community leaders in bringing these events back to global locations.
